The Louisville Magic Academy wants to teach kids ages six to 13 the art of magic at summer camp.

According to a release from the Magic Academy, kids will learn how to perform illusions while improving confidence and other social skills.

Professional magician Michael Raymer, who has been performing for 40 years, will lead the camp and classes. Raymer served as president of the Louisville Magic Club, a nonprofit that helps magicians hone their abracadabra skills and sleight of hand.

“Learning magic as a child changed my life,” said Raymer, who has been a magic performer since he was a young teen.

The camp takes place the week of July 15, 2024 at Kosair Center at 982 Eastern Parkway in Louisville. There are other dates for small groups and classes. More information can be found at the Louisville Magic Academy’s website.

Louisville Magic Academy camps and classes include custom-created props for children to keep. They also receive Top Secret files and bonus material they can unlock online with a secret code after each class.

Raymer added, “Magic is a great way for kids to build their confidence, and these are actually life skills courses disguised as magic classes.”
