LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Whether it's visiting friends and family, working a summer job or sightseeing, young Louisvillians can get around the city free of charge this summer thanks to the Transit Authority of River City (TARC) and Louisville Metro.

What You Need To Know

  • Young Louisvillians can get around the city free this summer through the Summer Youth Pass

  • The pass covers the cost of fare on all TARC routes from June 1 through Aug. 31

  • Adults with a MyTARC fare card can also get a Summer Pass good for the same dates but only when obtained at the same time as a Summer Youth Pass

  • To activate a Summer Youth Pass, riders must visit one of two TARC locations: Union Station (1000 West Broadway, Louisville, KY 40203) or the Nia Center (2901 West Broadway, Louisville, KY 40211)

Louisvillians ages 6 to 19 can get their Summer Youth Pass through TARC, which covers the cost of fare on all routes from June 1 through Aug. 31.

TARC said adults with a MyTARC fare card can also get a Summer Pass good for the same dates but only when obtained at the same time as a Summer Youth Pass. One adult pass will be issued per child's pass.

"Offering unlimited travel through the summer gives our children safe and convenient access to important destinations throughout the region," said Ozzy Gibson, TARC interim executive director.

Passes are now available to load via the MyTARC fare card; however, they will only be accepted beginning June 1.

To activate a Summer Youth Pass, riders must visit one of two TARC locations: Union Station (1000 West Broadway, Louisville, KY 40203) or the Nia Center (2901 West Broadway, Louisville, KY 40211). Those without a reloadable MyTARC student-ID card can purchase one at either location for an additional one-time set-up fee of $5. Passes will not be available online or with the MyTARC Mobile App.
