LOUISVILLE, Ky. — What is the coolest thing made in Kentucky? That’s what the Kentucky Association of Manufacturers wants to find out. A field of 32 products has been narrowed to two.

What You Need To Know

  •  It's the finals for the Coolest Thing Made in Kentucky tournament

  •  Finals are between Louisville Slugger bat and Hempwood flooring

  •  The two products beat out competitors like bourbob bonbons, post-it notes, and disco balls

  • Fans can vote through Sunday, April 14 online

Last year, the Chevrolet corvette took the crown, and this year it’s between the Louisville Slugger bat and HempWood flooring.

When in Lousville, it’s hard to miss the giant baseball bat on Main Street. 1.8 million bats leave the Hillerich and Bradsby Factory every year.

Murray, Kentucky, is home to HempWood flooring, a carbon negative, sustainable alternative option for wood flooring.

These two finalists were chosen from a bracket-style competition over the last few weeks.

Beating out fellow Kentucky made products like honey-buns, bourbon bonbons and gorilla glass.

Caroline Scott with the Kentucky Association of Manufactures said, “Some of the cool products that you may not know that are made right here in Kentucky. We make disco balls. We make post-it notes. We make dip-n-dots. We make airheads candy and so that’s what’s so cool about this competition is we get to spotlight those products you might now even know are made right here in our state.”

Voting online is open through Sunday, April 14 and the winner will be annonced the week of April 22.

The Coolest Thing Made in Kentucky tournament is presented by Kentucky Farm Bureau Insurance and this is the second year for the contest.

Last year’s winner, the Chevrolet corvette, produced at General Motors’ Bowling Green assembly plant, was not eligible to enter this year.
