CINCINNATI — If you or someone you know went to see Disney On Ice at the Heritage Bank Center in Cincinnati, the health department issued a measle warning.
The Cincinnati Health Department (CHD) said a person, who is not from Cincinnati, attended the show and had measles. The CHD says there is no need to panic, but they want to make sure everyone who was at the show is notified.
The CHD says if you went to the show or were at the Heritage Bank Center up to two hours after the show on Friday, March 8 at 7 p.m., you may have been exposed. The health department says most people have received the MMR vaccine, which protects against measles.
Here is What You Need to Know:
Symptoms: Watch for symptoms of measles, including high fever, cough, runny nose, watery eyes and a rash that typically appears 3-5 days after other symptoms.
Testing: Testing should be considered for anyone who was exposed and develops symptoms. If you experience a rash following a high fever, please contact the Cincinnati Health Department at 513-357-7462 to arrange testing. Do not go to the ER or urgent care for testing.
Vaccination: If you are vaccinated against measles or have had the disease in the past, your risk of illness is very low. However, if you are unvaccinated or under one year of age, please consult your health care provider for guidance. Vaccination remains the most effective way to prevent measles.
Exposure Window: Only people at the Friday, March 8, show were potentially exposed. Attendees on other dates (March 7, 9, or 10) were not affected.
The CHD asks if you attended the Disney on Ice performance on Friday, March 8, to fill out the Measles Exposure Form
