BARDSTOWN, Ky. — Steven Lawson, one of three men arrested and charged with Crystal Rogers’ death, has moved to have all the charges against him dropped, claiming he was promised immunity.

In a court filing on March 5, 2024, Lawson claims in interviews following his June 8, 2023 arrest, prosecutors and police, “made it clear that Mr. Lawson would get immunity if he cooperated with the investigation.”

Lawson, 53, was arrested and charged with tampering with physical evidence and conspiracy to commit murder. HIs son, Joseph Lawson, is facing the same charges. Brooks Houck, who was Rogers’ boyfriend at the time and is charged with murder.

If charges against Lawson are not dismissed, the filing also asks the court to suppress all of Lawson’s statements from June 8, 2023 until the present.

Lawson’s motion says he agreed to speak with prosecutor Shane Young and two Kentucky State Police detectives only identified in the motion as Detectives Luckett and Hardin. In the filing, Lawson says he agreed to speak with police after Prosecutor Young said anything he said wouldn’t be used against him.

Lawson, his son Joseph and Houck will be in court, Thursday, March 21. Steven Lawson’s attorneys want the court to hear this motion to dismiss that day.

Rogers, a mother of five, went missing in 2015 and is presumed dead.
