KENTUCKY — The 2024 Kentucky General Assembly is currently underway for its annual legislative session that runs until April 15, 2024.

This year is particularly important because since it is an even-calendar year, that means this year is a “long session” and lasts for 60 legislative days instead of 30 days.

During this In Focus Kentucky segment, Majority Floor Leader Steven Rudy, R-Paducah, shares legislative updates and caucus priorities for this year’s session from the Kentucky House of Representatives Republicans’ perspective.

With Rudy’s leadership position, he sets the agenda for prioritizing bills in the state House and controls the flow of legislation and in the chamber. Rudy has served in the role since 2021. Before that, he served as chair of the House Appropriations and Revenue committee. He was first elected to the general assembly in 2004.
