LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Every Dec. 25 for the past four years, Be the Change Inc. Foodbank puts together a Christmas dinner for everyone and anyone that comes through the doors.
Founder of Be the Change Inc. Foodbank, Maria Bell has been a chef for 22 years. She says no one deserves to go to bed hungry on Christmas day.
“What’s best right now is to keep people fed. It is absolutely necessary. Food is essential,” said Bell.
Bell has a passion for people and food. That’s why this event is in honor of Radcliff Councilwoman Tanya Seabrooks, as she had the same passions.
“People can sit and enjoy and make friends socialize. We have to-go anybody can call in, we have two people over there taking orders,” explained Bell.
In addition to a full Christmas dinner, folks can grab a blanket, coat or a jacket.
This is Eddie Legaspi's first year volunteering with “Be The Change” he says giving back to the community is a family tradition.
“Honestly, I’m just really happy to be a part of the community. Whatever it is that they need, whatever it is they ask, thrilled to be a part of it. And it’s a simple way to just make sure that everybody’s got a full belly for Christmas,” said Legaspi.
Bell says this is just the beginning. Her hope is to have a community kitchen someday.
“So rather than being once a year the Christmas dinner it will be Christmas dinner every day,” shared Bell.
