LEXINGTON, Ky. — Jonathan Richardson spent a few hours this Christmas Day serving food to people experiencing homelessness to spread a bit of cheer.
Richardson began his nonprofit Unity in the Community Inc. in October to serve the people of Lexington in several ways.
He has partnered with Food Donation Connection, and through this partnership, Richardson works with a local Papa John’s to give away food that would otherwise get thrown out. Since November, he has picked up about 70 pounds of food. He hopes that other local restaurants will jump on board with the national organization.
Richardson made a few stops in Lexington for Christmas Day to give out slices of pizza to people experiencing homelessness.
“It makes me so happy to be out here and help people [who are] less fortunate and to be able to provide food to those in need,” Richardson said. “It’s truly a blessing, and I’m just thankful for today.”
Richardson is seeking volunteers to help with his nonprofit. He is also in need of donations so he can purchase microwaves for preparing the food before he gives it out. He encourages those interested in donating to reach out via email at johnnyrich40511@gmail.com or visit here.
