Events such as a worship service, a parade, a public swearing-in ceremony and the Grand March at the State Capitol will take place in Frankfort as Beshear starts his second term.

“Inauguration Day will be a celebration of the Team Kentucky spirit that moves us Forward, Together,” Beshear said in a news release. "Our health care heroes and public school educators will serve as the parade’s grand marshals, and we’ll have incredible Kentucky artists and community leaders sharing their talents throughout the day."

The festivities begin at 8:30 a.m. EST when a delegation of Frankfort residents will bring country ham, beaten biscuits and white cake to the Beshear family at the Governor's Mansion. This tradition dates back more than 100 years and is said to have started when an outgoing first lady left these items on the dining table for the incoming first family, according to a release.

At 9:30 a.m. EST, the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) will host an Inaugural Worship Service, which will be streamed on Facebook and YouTube. Those in Frankfort can also watch the service on channels 10 and 510.

After the service, Beshear's family - including former Gov. Steve Beshear and former first lady Jane Beshear - along with Lt. Gov. Jacqueline Coleman, D-Ky., will travel from the service to the Capitol Avenue bridge. They will then board horse-drawn carriages for the inaugural parade route, beginning at 11 a.m. EST.

The public swearing-in ceremony begins at 2 p.m. EST and will feature a musical performance by country star Tyler Childers, along with a reading by Kentucky Poet Laureate Silas House. The Grand March will then occur at 6 p.m. EST. Kentuckians can watch these events on Spectrum News 1. Be sure to download our free app and take the coverage with you wherever you are.

Ending the day is the inaugural ball, which is a ticketed event already at capacity due to high interest and space restrictions.

Those attending the festivities can take advantage of free public parking and a shuttle service. More information about the events can be found here
