The online shopping deals have begun and whether you’re buying wireless headphones or a kitchen appliance, it’s important to be safe online.

Cyber security experts recommend turning on two factor authentication for all banking apps. This can protect your data from scammers.

Another tip is to double check the website you’re shopping on. Jeff Chandler from Z-Jak technologies in Louisville recommends keeping a close eye out for fake sites.

“One of the things that the hackers will like to do is to create fake websites that look very, very similar to the real website. And maybe it’s just misspelled by a couple letters and you don’t notice it. So if you check and login directly to those websites, you can check if that transaction is really there and just verify it’s a real transaction,” Chandler explained.

Chandler also says to watch your bank statements and to make sure you flag any unusual activity and, when in doubt, call your bank.
