From the fire to the table, the bird is the talk of town.

"I grew up around this area," said Dung Tran, owner of Louisville Streatery.

Tran's kitchen is busy.

"When we were around here, we didn't have very much. So when I came back around and started my business here, I always wanted to make sure I did something for the community and give back too, for supporting me and being here," Tran said.

Dozens of people packed all the sides, stuffing and more at the Louisville Streatery to support him.

"There are some people that don't have families who have stayed (with) guardians," Tran said. "And there are some people who do have family. Their families are far and then they're not near here, they are far," said PJ Ray, a social worker who brought a number of people to the dinner. "And so what we want to do is include them in any community settings that we can and also include them into special days, especially like Thanksgiving, where they know the families that are created are here to celebrate and have dinner here."

That sentiment of giving back is a goal for volunteer Jamie Sparks.

"I just really wanted to be part of the community. It just seemed like a really good opportunity to be part of something. Given the holiday season, and I was allowed the time off from work to come do it, so I wanted to participate," Sparks said.

This is the second year the Streatery has hosted a community dinner.

"Being grateful for what you have, being thankful for the family and the people that are around you," Tran said.
