CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. — St. Vincent de Paul Northern Kentucky hosts the 16th annual Turkeyfoot Trot 5k run to raise funds for northern Kentucky families in need of food and clothing this holiday season.

Mother and daughter, Meggy and Chloe Cooper, dressed up and joined the masses at Thomas More University to bond and give back.

“We have a lot of kids in our family, so this is a good experience to where we can have some one-on-one time together and still be active and give back to our community,” Meggy Cooper said.

Meggy Cooper said that this time with Chole Cooper is priceless.

“It’s wonderful time that I get to spend with Chloe. It’s a great time to We’ve had some really deep and meaningful conversation about who she’s going to be when she’s grow up and how she’s going to navigate the world that we live in,” she said.

Like the Coopers, the executive director of St. Vincent de Paul said serving the community is important for growth.

“It has definitely grown in the seven years that I’ve been with Vincent de Paul. And it’s just amazing to see how many more people within our community hear about it, come to participate, understand that their registration helps support their neighbors in need, and they get to have some fun and good snacks and a nice party when we’re all when it’s our time,” Karen Zengel said.

Meggy Cooper said that she wants to make this special for Chloe so that she continues to serve.

“It was the first experience. I had to make sure she loved it, and she remembered it. And why not act a little goofy? It’s supposed to be fun,” she said.

And they said they did have fun, finishing the race just as they started, together. Over 600 hundred northern Kentuckians came out to participate in a 5k race and all the proceeds will go to families in need.
