Bourbon and Beyond kicked off at the Highland Festival Grounds on Sept. 14. Festival goers will enjoy four days of live music.

"We're here to enjoy some bourbon, some music, some good food, good friends — and friend Dave here. And that's it. Cut loose for a little while," said Mitch Spindel, a festival attendee.

This year was Spindel’s first time attending the event; he said that he couldn’t miss it this year.

“I’ve been wanting to do the Kentucky bourbon tour for a while, and then I saw the lineup for the music. We've got to do this, and that's why we're here," Spindel said.

The event goes on, rain or shine. The good news for Spindel — and the 30,000 other guests expected each day — is the weather is forecasted to be perfect.

"It's all good. Everybody smiling in here. And it's a beautiful sky, and beautiful day," he said.

The festival concludes Sunday night with Bruno Mars.

Parking is $30 at Gates 2, 4 and 6. Lots open at 10 a.m. and gates to the festival grounds open at 11:30 a.m.
