LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Amazon is ramping up its investment in Jefferson County with the opening of a new, state-of-the-art 141,000 square-foot Louisville delivery station. Located at 1231 Durrett Lane, the facility will create 150 job opportunities that pay an average starting wage of $19 an hour, and offer a variety of benefits from day one.
Delivery stations are the last step of Amazon’s order process and help speed up deliveries for customers, the company says. Packages are shipped to a delivery station from neighboring Amazon fulfillment centers, loaded onto delivery vehicles and delivered to customers.
“We’re thankful that one of the world’s logistics leaders is bringing nearly 200 new Amazon associate jobs to Louisville, providing our community not only with access to new job opportunities but also jobs that include access to education benefits, and full health, vision and dental insurance from day one,” said Mayor Craig Greenberg, D-Louisville.
The delivery station opened Aug. 23 and will host a ribbon cutting ceremony to commemorate the grand opening in September, according to an Amazon spokesperson.
