LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A documentary about Ohio Valley Wrestling is coming to Netflix, highlighting the gym that has been the home to up-and-coming professional wrestlers for decades. In a trailer announcing the Sept. 13 launch of "Wrestlers," the show appears to center on OVW’s iconic figurehead Al Snow and recent struggles to keep the Louisville-based gym viable.

“You get outside of WWE and AEW, the best wrestling in America is taking place right here,” boasted Kentucky Sports Radio host Matt Jones in the trailer.

Jones is a co-owner of the league along with Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg, D-Louisville. Jones is seen in the trailer discussing ways to boost OVW’s profile.

“This is the summer to take it to the next level,” he said in the trailer, before suggesting the league create a summer tour.

OVW claims it has been a launching pad for many of the top names in professional wrestling for the last 30 years. Its website touts the training of talents like John Cena, Batista, Randy Orton, Brock Lesnar, Batista, CM Punk, Mickie James, Cody Rhodes, Beth Phoenix and many others. Founded in 1993 by “Nightmare” Danny Davis — a wrestler in his own right and a former trainer for Jerry “The King” Lawler — OVW says it is where the future happens.

OVW also trains wrestlers through its OVW Academy. The league said it is the “world’s only” state accredited wrestling trade school, a badge it earned in 2019.

The wrestling organization is housed at Davis Arena at 4400 Shepherdsville Road in Louisville and hosts a weekly two-hour live show on Thursday nights.
