LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Louisville Metro Police Foundation and Shack in the Back BBQ are hosting a special day-long fundraiser on June 21 to benefit Louisville Metro Police Officer Nikolas Wilt, who was critically injured while responding to a mass shooting at Old National Bank.

The fundraiser event is from 11:00 am to 8:00 p.m. at Shack in the Back BBQ, 10706 W. Manslick Road in Fairdale. 10% of all food sales will go to support Wilt.

The centerpiece of the fundraiser will be a “Dunk a Cop” booth — with 15% of those proceeds donated. The Dunk a Cop fundraiser and auction are scheduled for 7 p.m.

Other parts of the fundraiser include an adopt a guinea pig event with 15% of proceeds donated, auction items available for sale and a petting zoo.

Wilt was shot in the head while responding to a deadly shooting at the Old National Bank on April 10 that killed five and wounded eight, including three police officers. The rookie officer has been in recovery since and showing steady signs of improvement.

The Louisville Metro Police Foundation helps officers and their families with things like medical bills and recovery. As of mid-May, the foundation announced it had raised $164,000 to support Wilt through his recovery and rehabilitation.
