LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Shopping at Kroger is getting a little easier for those wanting to use electronic benefits transfer, EBT. The grocery story announced it will accept EBT payments for all online grocery orders and digital EBT payments.

What You Need To Know

  • Kroger now accepts EBT payment for SNAP online orders

  • Kroger believes this will open digital grocery shopping to more customers

  • The chain also says more people will now have access to fresh, healthy food

  • Orders can be placed on the Kroger app or website

Jessica Sharp, Corporate Affairs Manager for the Louisville Division, said in a statement, “Now, we are opening our digital grocery shopping experience to more people, with fresh, affordable food conveniently available through pickup or delivery. Kroger believes in being Fresh for Everyone, and this is another important way we are connecting our neighbors to the foods that will help them live healthier, thriving lives.”

Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits have been accepted by Kroger for several years. Now, EBT payments can be used to buy groceries using the Kroger app or the Kroger website.

According to Kroger, the new payment option will let customers have access to fresh, healthy, SNAP-eligible foods conveniently.

Digital customers just need to create an account on the Kroger app or website and add their EBT account number as a new card number in the “My Account” and “Wallet” sections. Customers then can put items in their online cart and when they check out, they will select EBT as the payment method and enter a personal identification number (PIN).
