LOUISVILLE, Ky. — We are five days away from the Kentucky Derby Festival’s Opening Ceremonies: Thunder Over Louisville.

Once again, hundreds of thousands of fans are expected to pack Louisville’s Waterfront Park to watch and enjoy a packed airshow featuring military and civilian air acts. This year marks the 34th production of the show.

This year fans will be treated to performances by the U.S. Army Golden Knights, the U.S. Air Force F-35 Demo and Heritage Flight, Navy F-35 Demo and Growler Deo with Legacy Flight.

The Kentucky Derby Festival produces over 70 events, including Thunder. It provides an estimated impact of $56 million to the area’s economy.

The theme of this year’s show is “Through the Decades.” Thunder is set for Saturday, April 22.
