LEXINGTON, Ky. — Kylee Skaggs is a local nurse that is using her skills to run a mobile IV hydration infusion business through the national company, Hydreight.

What You Need To Know

  •  A Lexington nurse is running a mobile IV hydration business.

  •  Kylee Skaggs goes to her clients' homes and offices to provide this service.

  •  According to Skaggs, getting vitamins through an IV is more efficient than taking them orally.

  • One of her clients, Meredith Ashby-Boyd, has seen an improvement with her health since starting IV therapy.

Skaggs started the business toward the end of 2022 after having an interest in IV therapy.

“Working in the ER, I see, you know, first-hand how powerful IV therapy can be and that’s just mostly with standard fluids most of the time, that’s not even with the addition of all the extra things that we’re able to provide,” said Skaggs.

She prepares infusions and can customize the formulas based on what her clients need.

At-home IV hydration services became well known because of bachelor and bachelorette parties, but there is more to this therapy than helping people with a hangover.

The infusions contain vitamins that can help people suffering from migraines and low energy. There is a specific formula that can also boost immunity. According to Skaggs, getting those vitamins through an IV is more efficient.

“Orally you have to, you know, eat it, digest it, you know, it has so many stops, whereas with IV therapy, we’re bypassing all of that so it’s bypassing, you know, any oral intake and it’s just going straight into the bloodstream so you can sort of think of it as, you know, cutting out the middleman,” said Skaggs.

One of her clients, Meredith Ashby-Boyd, has been receiving infusions since Sept. 2022 and has noticed an improvement in her overall health.

“It saved me after having COVID because I had such horrible headaches and migraines after COVID and the brain fog and the fatigue, and it’s taken it all away,” said Ashby-Boyd. “So I definitely would recommend this for anybody.”

Ashby-Boyd had started IV therapy at a brick-and-motor, but now with Skaggs, she is able to get that same treatment in the comfort of her home and that has improved her experience.

“That’s been super helpful, especially that I have three kids, to have somebody that’s willing to accommodate and come to my house and allow my kids to run around as I do this has been really helpful,” said Ashby-Boyd.

As for Skaggs, between being a nurse, a mother, and running this business, she has a lot on her plate, but is passionate about providing these services.

“I want this to feel very community-based and I want these sort of services to be more accessible and not something that you feel like you have to go, you know, to the emergency room or the hospital to get,” said Skaggs.

All Hydreight nurses are either registered nurses or paramedics. They have to provide a medical license and pass a background check. For more information on Hydreight and how to receive IV hydration services, visit: https://www.hydreightlex.com/.
