LOUISVILLE, Ky. — You oughta know, Jagged Little Pill, the Tony and Grammy award-winning production based on Alanis Morissette’s album is coming to the Kentucky Center in August.

PNC Broadway, along with Kentucky Performing Arts announced the Louisville pre,ier will be Aug. 31-Sept. 1. Tickets to the two shows go on sale July 27 at kentuckyperformingarts.org

In a release, Leslie Broecker, President of PNC Broadway in Louisville said, “The Kentucky Center has been instrumental in making this opportunity a reality and we are continuously grateful for their support and collaboration.”

Kim Baker, President and CEO of Kentucky Performing Arts added,  “Working together, we were able to attract the launch of the Jagged Little Pill tour, providing the opportunity to shine a national spotlight on the Commonwealth.”

The musical features an original story by Tony and Academy Award-winning writer Diablo Cody, who wrote the script for Juno. It tells the story of a “perfectly imperfect family” whose members struggle privately. Some themes addressed in the show include addiction and trauma. It, of course, features several of Morissette’s hits, including “You Oughta Know,” “Head Over Feet,” and “Ironic.” The show also features new songs written specifically for the show.

Jagged Little Pill, the musical, originally opened on Broadway Dec. 5, 2019. In 2020, it received 15 Tony nominations, including Best Musical. It won two awards — Best Book and Featured Actress for Lauren Patten.

Morissette’s album was released on June 13, 1995. It was her third album, but her most successful. It made her the bestselling international debut artist in history; a title she still holds. 33 million copies of the album sold worldwide, and it remains one of the Top 20 Best-Selling Albums of All Time. It received 7 Grammy Awards.
