LOUISVILLE, Ky.  —The National Weather Service confirms that an EF-1 tornado hit portions of Central Kentucky overnight.  Communities not only in Kentucky, but also Tennessee spent Monday assessing damages.

Firefighters in the Scott County, Kentucky, community of Stamping Ground warned people to use caution traveling in town due to downed power lines and other damage. The National Weather Service in Louisville said it sent a crew to survey storm damage in the area. They confimed the tornado with peak winds of 95 mph hit a mobile home park in Stamping Ground.

A report from NWS says the  tornado hit an area roughly a quarter mile long and 60 yards wide. The report says two people were injured but did not list the severity of the injuries. The survey crew determined  the tornado hit southwest of the Parker's Mobile Home Park in Stamping Ground. The initial touchdown happened in a fenced in area. Trees were uprooted and the wooden fence was damage.

NWS estimates wind speeds were between 80 and 85 mph initially.

The survey team determined the tornado then increased in size and speed hitting the mobile home park, causing more damage.  According to the report, trailers were lifted off of their foundations and some trailers were flipped over. Crews found debris scattered in trees, wood that had impaled the ground and twisted and broken trees everywhere. 

It was after seeing this debris the NWS determined wind speeds increased to approximately 95 mph. This information is part of the NWS preliminary report and details may change before the final report is issued.
