LOUISVILLE, Ky. — As Louder Than Life gets closer and closer, one of the festival's major headliners has dropped, and some fans could feel a bit hurt.

Nine Inch Nails has canceled all of their performances scheduled for the rest of 2021, including their Louder Than Life set scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 25.

The band announced the move through Twitter on Thursday, citing the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

"When originally planned, these shows were intended to be a cathartic and celebratory return to live music," the band's statement read. "However, with each passing day it's becomking more apparent we're not at that place yet."

Louder Than Life organizers confirmed the news, adding that all fans with Saturday single-day passes would receive an email with next steps within a few days. A new Saturday headliner will be announced soon, organizers said.

Korn and Metallica are still set to headline the festival, with the latter performing two unique sets on Friday and Sunday. You can find the current lineup and ticket information on Louder Than Life's website.

Earlier this month, the festival announced that all artists, staff, crew and attendees will have to show proof of either a full COVID-19 vaccination or negative COVID-19 test for entry to the event.

Fans will have to present proof of vaccination as soon as they enter the festival grounds, organizers said. The festival will accept the original card, printed copies and digital copies.

Those who aren't vaccinated upon arrival will have to bring a negative test taken within 72 hours of entry. The results can be printed or digital, and must include name, testing date, negative results and a photo ID.
