LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Taking your family out to the ballgame soon? If you're heading to Slugger Field to see the Louisville Bats, you may be able to leave the masks at home. The Bats announced that fans fully vaccinated against COVID-19 won't be required to wear masks inside the ballpark during home games.

What You Need To Know

  • Fully vaccinated fans no longer have to wear masks at Slugger Field for Louisville Bats home games

  • The Bats said those not fully vaccinated are still asked to wear a mask

  • New rule follows CDC guidance for fully vaccinated people

  • Kentucky's statewide mask mandate expires June 11

However, the team said fans who have not been fully vaccinated "are still asked to wear a mask at all times unless eating or drinking inside the park."

The new rules align with guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) that said fully vaccinated people don't have to wear masks in most indoor and outdoor settings.

Kentucky's statewide guidelines for mask wearing also match the CDC, but the Commonwealth's current mask mandate will expire for all Kentuckians – vaccinated and not vaccinated – on June 11.

The Bats return to Slugger Field Tuesday, May 25 for a 12-game homestand featuring six bouts with the Toledo Mud Hens May 25-30.
