LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Metro councilmembers are asking for interested volunteers to help with what they are calling the "greatest cleanup in West End history" on Saturday.

Volunteers will span all across West Louisville on Saturday, cleaning and picking up trash throughout the community.

Metro Council President David James — along with councilmembers Donna Purvis and Jessica Green — are helping get the word out. Several Louisville community organizations including the Mopar Muscle Car Club are collaborating and coordinating the effort.

“I am happy to see so many people working together and participating in this west cleanup,” James said. “This is a great way to show your pride in our city.”

For years, Fonz Brown and the members of the Mopar Muscle Car Club have joined forces with other groups to help the community with holiday cheer for the season. This year the club decided to take on the ambitious goal of "Greatest Cleanup in West End History."

"During this season of gratitude, it means so much that community groups and residents will spend their time on Saturday to make sure that West Louisville sparkles. Thank you to everyone for their support, and commitment in working to ensure that West Louisville is a wonderful and beautiful place for all of us to live, work and play,” Councilwoman Green said.

All volunteers and community groups will meet on Saturday, Nov. 28 around 11 a.m. at Citi Trends (2809 West Broadway.) All participants will be given masks, trash bags and rakes.

Cleanup will get underway at 12:00 p.m

Louisville Metro Council members have coordinated with Solid Waste Management Service to ensure quick pick up all trash bags as a result of the effort.

“Thank you to the Mopar Muscle Car Club for their constant commitment to improving our community. This Saturday is a chance to give back to the community and help make a difference,” Councilwoman Purvis said.
