LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The first Frisch's restaurant opened in 1905 in Cincinnati, Ohio. Today, the coronavirus is forcing the company to permanently close the doors on seven restaurants, two in Louisville and five others throughout Ohio.

Frisch's says when stay-at-home orders were put in effect, the restaurant found new ways to serve customers. But the continuing pandemic is forcing the chain to take steps to ensure the 115-year-old chain can survive. While the seven stores are closing, others will remain drive-thru and carryout only.

There are five Frisch's Big Boy restaurants in Louisville, the closures will leave only three. The Kentucky restaurants permanently closing are located at:

  • Fern Valley Road
  • Bardstown Road

The Ohio restaurants shutting down are located at:

  • Carew Tower in Cincinnati
  • Gahanna in Gahanna
  • Marysville in Marysville
  • Urbanna in Urbanna
  • Yankee Road in Liberty Township
