LOUISVILLE, Ky. — This holiday weekend marks a time worth celebrating at the Kentucky Science Center. After months of closure because of the coronavirus, the Kentucky Science Center reopened to members on July 4.
It will remain open to members through July 5, officially reopening to the public July 11 and 12.
"We are very excited to enter this next phase of reopening," CEO Mike Norman said.
For now, the building will be open to the public only on weekends while summer camp is in session during the week. This move is part of an effort to keep numbers down and ensure the safety of campers and staff members.
For families that do plan to head back to the center, things will look different.
People will be required to fill out a COVID-19 prescreen assessment before purchasing tickets online. Advanced tickets are required for all guests, including members.
Guests 12 and older will be required to wear a face mask while kids 6 through 11 will be strongly encouraged to wear one. Also, they are asking households to stick together and stay socially distant from other groups.
The Kentucky Science Center modified or removed some exhibits to allow more room in the building. It also enhanced cleaning protocols. Guests can find hand sanitizer station throughout the building.
General admission is $17 for adults and $13 for children. Combo tickets including a movie cost $22 and $18.
