FRANKFORT, Ky. - The longest-serving Kentucky Congressman wants to run for another term.

U.S. Rep. Hal Rogers, R-Kentucky, has represented the 5th district in southern and eastern Kentucky since 1981.

That makes him the state's longest serving Republican in any elected federal office.

He filed paperwork Wednesday to be on next year's ballot, meaning he plans to run for his 21st term.

Rogers was chairman of the House Appropriations Committee from 2011 to 2016.

He turns 82 later this month.
