FRANKFORT, Ky. - Gov. Matt Bevin’s bill to address Kentucky’s ongoing pension crisis passed a test on Monday when members of the Kentucky House approved the plan 52-46.

The roll call on the bill revealed that nine Republican House members joined minority Democrats in voting against the bill.

The plan would give quasi-governmental agencies a one-year delay in paying much higher pension costs. Opponents of the bill warned it will slash pension benefits to thousands of employees.

The House vote came after three hours of debate.

The bill now goes to the Senate, where it is expected to win final passage on Wednesday.
