LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Six Louisville Metro Police officers are indicted after being accused of working and being paid for private security jobs while also being on the job with Metro Government.
One of the officers, Jackie Miller, is accused of arranging the security jobs through a company he created. He is charged with Theft by Deception Over $500 But Less Than $10,000, one count of Tampering with Physical Evidence and Criminal Syndication: Engaging in Organized Crime.
Deputy Chief of Police, Michael Sullivan said, “A Public Integrity Unit investigation was initiated several months ago when we discovered possible criminal behavior by several officers. We take allegations of officers involved in criminal wrongdoing seriously. After a thorough investigation and consultation with the Commonwealth Attorney’s Office, these cases were today presented to the Grand Jury. The Grand Jury returned indictments on six officers. All six are on administrative re-assignment."
Officers Michael Abernathy, Jr., Dontae Booker, Cortez Ernest, Ashley Spratt and Roniqua Yocum were also indicted on one count of Theft by Deception Over $500 But Less Than $10,000 and Criminal Syndication: Engaging in Organized Crime. Officer Abernathy was also indicted on Criminal Facilitation to Criminal Syndication: Engaging in Organized Crime.
The officers will be arraigned Monday, May 20. Assistant Commonwealth's Attoreny Kaleb Noblett is prosecuting the case.
