KENTUCKY — Recent studies show that nearly one in five American adults with diabetes, ration their insulin to save money.

Kentucky has the fourth highest diabetes rate in the country and advocates say they have seen insulin prices impact their lives.

Ben Chandler is the President and CEO for a Foundation for a Healthy Kentucky, which  seeks to ensure that all Kentuckians have access to safe, affordable, quality health care. 

"There are a lot of people who are working on diabetes all across the state. We have S.O.A.R in Eastern Kentucky who has put a put a real emphasis on diabetes. We've got the Kentucky Diabetes Network, Inc. which is a statewide organization working really hard on diabetes. We've got other groups that are interested in fitness and in food, like the the Good Food Network here in Kentucky, that is just doing tremendous jobs to try to combat some of the underlying problems that people have with diabetes," said Ben Chandler, president and CEO of the Foundation for a Healthy Kentucky.
