LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The recent winter storms kept some inside, but others wanted to get to work by hitting the gym.
Nursing students Sarah Sebastian and Lillian Keeling had a snow day, but it didn’t keep them from the gym.
Sebastian and Keeling say they haven’t seen snow like this for years.
“This was really unexpected. I honestly didn’t believe it when they were like, ‘Oh, we’re going to get eight inches,’” said Sebastian.
“I don’t even know how many we got, but I was not expecting. I haven’t seen it since I was a kid,” said Keeling.
Sebastian and Keeling say even on the snowiest days they try to get in the gym four to five times a week.
“At first, I feel like when the weather was kind of unpredictable, I was like, ‘I don’t know if I want to get out in this, chance it and go to the gym,’ but I did, and we’re here,” said Keeling. “And, definitely helps with the cabin fever, I think,” added Sebastian.
Anytime Fitness in Louisville is a 24 hour facility for clients. Manager DJ Aneszko said he was surprised to see many clients still hitting the gym.
“On Monday, we actually did cancel our training classes just for the safety of our members. We didn’t want people out there traveling in the weather with the rest of the week. Actually wasn’t bad… it was a little lower than average, but it actually was. I was actually impressed with the dedication of our members to still get in and get their workouts in this week,” said Aneszko
Both Sebastian and Keeling encourage folks to move their body even if it is cold outside.
“I think everybody’s going a little crazy this week, though. We’re not used to being stuck for so long. Usually it’s like a weekend and then it warms up. But yeah, this this has been a long time,” said Keeling.
“Yeah, just sit at home. That’s why we’re here today. So like, we have to get out. I gotta get out. Yeah. Got to get moving,” said Sebastian.
