LEXINGTON, Ky. — Georgetown College and Kentucky State are this season’s exhibition opponents for the University of Kentucky men’s basketball team. 

UK announced both games will be played at Rupp Arena, Georgetown on Oct. 27 and KSU on Nov. 2.

In the last two seasons, Kentucky has played a regular-season game again a historically Black college and university. The Kentucky State game will serve as that game this season. UK says the “Unity Series” games raise awareness of the missions of HBCUs and to raise money to give those schools and their students opportunities.

In its partnerships with HBCUs, the Wildcats and their opponents have gone on educational field trips to the National Underground Railroad Freedom Museum in Cincinnati, learned about branding in the era of name-image-likeness and were given career resources.

 UK has won 29 straight exhibition games and are 150-12 all-time. Under coach John Calipari the Cats are 47-1 in exhibition games.

The school says the game times and television networks will be announced later.

This will be the fourth time Georgetown College has played UK, first having met in 2005. This is the third meeting under Calipari. They last played in 2019. The two squads first met in 1938 and then didn’t play again until 2005.

KSU is playing Kentucky for the second straight season. UK has won the three games the teams have played. They have met in 2015, 2019 and 2022.
