LEXINGTON, Ky. — The University of Kentucky Athletics Hall of Fame class of 2023 was announced.

Robin Ewing Bodem

Ewing Bodem competed for UK gymnastics from 1994 to 1997. She is one of the most decorated gymnasts in the school’s history.

In 1996, she made All-America honors — the second Wildcat to make All-America Second Team. She was also the third in program history to individually qualify for the NCAA National Championships.

In 1996, Ewing Bodem was leading the team that placed in the top-four at the SEC Championships; it was a first for the program. That was not accomplished again until 2018 and 2021.

 Chris Chenault

Chenault is the second-leading tackler in UK football history. He played from 1985 to 1988, completing 482 tackles. During his senior year, he made 134 stops, which earned him All-SEC second team honors.

His junior year, he had a career-best 160 stops. During his sophomore year, his 93 tackles earned him a spot on the Football News Sophomore All-America team.

Chenault was named Freshman All-America first team by Football News for his performance during his debut season.

Danielle Galyer Day

Galyer Day competed for UK women’s swim and dive from 2014 to 2017. She was the first and only Kentucky swimmer to win a national championship; she won the 200 backstroke in 2016 with a time of 1:49.71 — the sixth fastest in U.S. swim history.

Galyer Day was also a four-time first team All-American and four-time NCAA Championships qualifier. In 2016 and 2017, she was an Elite 90 Award recipient for boasting the highest GPA of anyone at the national championship.

In 2015, she won the SEC championship for the 200 backstroke and made All-SEC first team. In 2016 and 2017 and made All-SEC second team. She was named SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year in both 2015 and 2016.

Galyer Day was also on the USA Swimming National Team from 2015 to 2016, and still ranks second in program history in the 100 and 200 backstroke.

Dick Parsons

Parsons played baseball at UK from 1958 to 1961 and basketball from 1958 to 1961. He was a team captain in both sports. He returned to UK in 1970, serving as the baseball program’s head coach from 1970 to 1972 and as the men’s basketball assistant coach from 1970 to 1980.

Parsons was an All-America shortstop in baseball and earned All-America honors in the sport after batting .400 as a senior. He was a two-year first-team All-SEC and NCAA All-District in his junior and senior years. He helped his team earn a 53-24 three-year record.

He was a three-year letterman in basketball. He scored 511 points over three varsity seasons. He helped his team earn a 61-19 record and made two NCAA Tournament appearances.

Rajon Rondo

Rondo played basketball at UK from 2004 to 2006, during which the Wildcats were the 2005 SEC regular-season champion. Rondo recorded 87 steals as a freshman — a school record. That season, Rondo was named to SEC All-Freshman Team.

During his sophomore season, he led the team in assists (167), total rebounds (209), points scored (380) and steals (69). He received All-SEC second team honors and was named to the Academic All-SEC Team.

His tenure at UK was cut short when he was drafted into the NBA in 2006 by the Phoenix Suns. He was the 21st overall pick. He played in the NBA for 16 years and won NBA championships with the Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Lakers. Rondo was a four-time NBA All-Star and was on the NBA All-Defensive Team four times. In 2012 he mad All-NBA Team. Rondo led the NBA in assists for three years and in steals for one season.

Ryan Strieby

Strieby played baseball in 2006, leading UK to its first SEC Championship. He was the first SEC Player of the Year in program history.

Strieby led UK in doubles (22), homers (20), RBI (77), total bases (164), slugging (.704) and on-base percentage (.473). He ranks among program single-season record holders for each of those categories.

He named was a first team All-America first baseman by Baseball America, the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association, the College Baseball Hall of Fame and Louisville Slugger. He was also named All-SEC first team and All-South Region first team by ABCA.

In 2006, he was a fourth-round draft pick for the Detroit Tigers. He played 10 seasons of minor-league baseball.
