COVINGTON, Ky. — Covington officials announced six businesses received funding in a round of the Small Business Incentive Program. Three businesses received a rent subsidy and the other three businesses received funding for facade improvements. It’s part of the $150,000 the city sets aside each year for the program.

One of the businesses receiving a rent subsidy is AlloyFX. Co-owner Jeff Meyers said the business moved to Covington about six months ago after spending about a decade in Cincinnati. Meyers said the company does CGI work with other businesses and this subsidy helps them as a business.

“It basically just cut our rent in half, which was nice,” Meyers said.

It helps some local businesses out as they navigate the impacts of inflation.

“You know, obviously everything is much more expensive these days and anything helps,” he said.

Another busieness receiving a rent subsidy is Maki Mono. Peter Raimundo said this program and a positive relationship with city officials really makes all the difference in helping small businesses thrive. That help allows the business to focus more on catering to customers.

“We just try to give people, customers, what they want. That’s most important,” Raimundo said.
