LOUISVILLE, Ky. —With the alarming rise in coronavirus cases across the state, COVID-19 testing is now happening at the Kentucky Exposition Center. The expo center is also one of four early in-person voting locations in Jefferson County.
200 free drive-through tests were available on Thursday and 300 are ready to go Friday. Governor Andy Beshear says the additional testing is meant for counties experiencing the highest spike in COVID-19 cases.
Another "surge" testing location is expected to open next month in Lexington.
The dreary weather Thursday did not keep voters way nor residents who wanted a test.
It’s efficient. They’ve got a good system set up," one voter told Spectrum News 1.
“Everything seemed pretty safe. People were able to get in and out," another voter said.
After Thursday there are three more opportunities to vote early and in-person. October 30, 31, and November 2. COVID-19 test results are expected within three days. Beshear put it this way, “Go vote early and get your COVID test at the same time."
