LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The start of fall is almost here, and that means all things Halloween at Kentucky's largest amusement park.
The third annual "Pumpkins at Kentucky Kingdom" will return Thursday, Oct. 3 and run Thursdays through Sundays every week in October. Organizers said this year's event will include a variety of activities and sights, including 1,000 giant illuminated pumpkins, unique fall photo opportunities, larger-than-life sculptures up to 12 feet tall and, of course, the park's five world-class roller coasters.
Guests can also snack on fall favorites such as pulled pork sandwiches, barbecue baked potatoes or maple bacon pecan funnel cakes topped with ice cream at Casa Mia or Auntie B's, along with the park's famous cinnamon bread and free candy.
"We have seen incredible enthusiasm for Pumpkins at Kentucky Kingdom in its first two years, so we're thrilled to give our guests even more value and opportunities for seasonal fun," said Sarah Worrell, Kentucky Kingdom's general manager. "This year will be the best 'Pumpkins at Kentucky Kingdom' we've ever produced, with expanded operating days and even more themed activities — there's something for every member of the family to enjoy, and I can't wait for our guests to experience it."
Some new activities include the "Pumpkin Rumble Game Show," where guests can join hosts on stage to compete for special prizes, and expanded trick-or-treat stations, inviting younger visitors to dress up in their favorite costumes, pick up trick-or-treat bags and collect candy throughout the park. Returning favorites include magician performances, live music and the twists and turns of the Hay Maze.
Admission to the event is included with a season pass or a regular ticket. Tickets for Oct. 3-4 are discounted to $19.99 while supplies last. Check out Kentucky Kingdom's website to get tickets and more information.
