KENTUCKY — Planned Parenthood launched a virtual health care center, serving patients across Kentucky.
Patients will use a secure video platform to connect with doctors to discuss birth control, emergency contraception, pregnancy planning, gender-affirming care, STI testing and treatment, menopause support and more.
“Expanding telehealth options in Kentucky is no longer just a convenience—it’s a critical lifeline,” said Planned Parenthood Great Northwest, Hawai’i, Alaska, Indiana, Kentucky (PGNHAIK) CEO Rebecca Gibron in a press release. “With some of the nation’s worst sexual health outcomes, long travel distances for rural patients, provider shortages, high maternal mortality rates and rising STI rates, Kentuckians urgently need accessible and judgment-free care. By expanding telehealth services, we can begin to close the gaps created by poverty and limited insurance coverage by meeting our patients where they are. In a state where reproductive health options are already under intense pressure, ensuring equitable telehealth access is essential for protecting the well-being of every Kentuckian.”
Before Kentucky’s near-total abortion ban went into effect, Planned Parenthood in Louisville was one of only two providers in the state.
PGNHAIK said it will keep expanding telehealth, while the Lexington and Louisville centers remain open for in-person care.
To schedule a visit, Kentuckians can go to the website, enter their state and select telehealth.
