Price's grandparents started the Orchard and he has been in this role for eight years. He said every year brings new challenges but still the goal is the same.
“You got to love it and I do. Secondly there is something new every day. Sometimes that is good and sometimes that is bad," said Price. "It's not repetitive day after day after day, and there is a lot of problem solving and most importantly the ability to interact with people.”
Price earned his degree in horticulture plant soil science in 2012 and is instrumental in making sure orchard apples are ripe for picking. He said the most important element is having families do something they otherwise might not have the chance to do.
“Each season has its main goal. This time of year we are focused on picking apples and pumpkins, keeping the store stocked," said Price. "Also making cider and making sure this place looks the way we want it to look.”
Joedan Laster used to visit the orchard while he was a child. Now this time around, he has come with his 3-year-old daughter to let her get in on the fun.
“Its really cool just seeing her walking down and picking pumpkins and apples," said Laster. "We were at the pumpkin patch and she literally wanted all the pumpkins, so just seeing her little face light up is what it’s all about.”
Laster said he will try to make this a yearly tradition like he had when he was a child.
The orchard is open every day of the week.
