  • This is the 18th annual Hot rod reunion

  • Around $2 million comes into the Bowling Green local economy

Dennis Ingram is a longtime participant and this weekend is more than a car show for him.

Over 1,500 cars are on display over the three day event. Ingram is a six year participant and he is not only showing off his car but raising money as well.

"One of the big reasons I’m out here today is we work with  'Crusin for the Cure" to raise money for juvenile diabetes, alzheimer's and local hospice," said Ingram "Over the last 10 years we have raised about a million dollars to go to those three causes and that is the type of thing this event does it brings people here to raise money for those causes as well.”

Drag racing is on display as well during the weekend. Bringing in people to Bowling Green is big for Janet Henderson who serves as the group sales director for the Bowling Green Area Convention & Visitors Bureau.

“Here in Beech Bend Park in Bowling Green, Kentucky it’s 375 acres and its laid out beautifully for this event," said Henderson "We have an oval track, a nostalgia drag strip, a covered grand stand everything here is just the perfect setup for these types of events."

The weekend brings in about $2 million according to Henderson as well. It will run through Saturday June 19 and gates will open at 8 a.m. each day.
