KENTUCKY — On this week’s In Focus Kentucky program, we are continuing to keep you up to date on legislation that is moving in this year’s Kentucky General Assembly.

House Bill 5 is known as The Safer Kentucky Act, which was filed by House Republicans from Louisville, who say the measure is a way to crack down on violent crime.

The Bail project is a national nonprofit that provides free assistance and pretrial support to thousands of low-income people every year, while advancing policy change at the local, state and national level.

During this segment, Josh Mitman, senior legal counsel with The Bail Project, joins the program to explain the Bail Project’s opposition to the Safer Kentucky Act passing 74-22 in the House of Representatives.
