LOS ANGELES — Tamara De Leon says she believes she witnessed a UFO sighting on her way home in Northern California. The video she shared with Spectrum News 1 shows six lights in a v-shaped formation.

As a believer in extraterrestrial life, it was an experience she’ll never forget.

“All of a sudden it just kind of flew, flew away in the distance and it just flew right back within a couple of seconds and it got really close to the car as we’re driving and it was actually quite scary,” De Leon said.

De Leon never thought she would come across something she couldn’t explain. But that’s also why she’s a fan of the show Ancient Aliens and decided to bring her son Elijah Rivera to AlienCon, a three-day convention that features panel discussions on extraterrestrial theories.

“I think they are real because there’s enough evidence that people have gathered over the years,” Rivera said.

The event brings theorists, authors, and the curious together to talk about all things extraterrestrial. For De Leon, it’s an experience she’s been looking for.

“Aliens were kind of taboo for a while and now it’s becoming more accept[ed]. So, it’s kind of interesting to mingle with people who have the same beliefs,” De Leon said.

Thousands of fans will be pouring in to the L.A. Convention Center June 21 to 23 not to just take photos with alien props and their favorite stars, but to also gain a better understanding as to where research is leading us.

“We’ve always been interested as a human, as humanity where do we come from? Why are we here and where are we going? And I think that the exploration of the extraterrestrial question is a big part of this answer,” Giorgio A. Tsoukalos, known from the show Ancient Aliens, said.

De Leon said she brought her son to help him learn more but keep an open mind for his own thoughts.

“There’s a lot of interesting stuff in this world involving technology and space travel, so I thought it would be a good idea for him to come out and experience it. That way he can gather his own ideas,” De Leon said.

De Leon’s planning to take a seat in as many discussion panels as she can with her son this weekend because although we might know the answer now, she’s hoping that new research will uncover what might be out there in the future.
