LA HABRA, Calif. — Haley Larue started dating Daniel Dohoda in January of 2020.

“You know when you first start dating someone you want to be around that person 24/7, so that’s exactly what we got,” said Larue.

They were practically roommates by March.

“I think I started cooking the second night. I was already making dinner,” said Dohoda.

While the pandemic has been defined by social distancing, for the couple, it only brought them closer together.

He proposed in October.

“Actually since our first date, we have not spent a single day apart,” he said.

Larue and Dohoda have known each other since they were 13 years old. Now, they feel like they’re making up for lost time.

Being forced to lock down together, the couple learned things about each other that might have taken months or years in a pre-pandemic courtship.

“We spent every waking moment together. I feel like we saw every side of each other,” said Larue.

She's seen other couples solidify their love too.

She runs the social media for an Orange County jeweler and says that the company’s sales during the pandemic have jumped 20% from the previous year.

She’s in good company with fellow brides to be, and her future husband.

While 2020 will be a year most people would rather forget, Larue and Dohoda will remember it as the year their love story turned rock solid.
