ANAHEIM, Calif. — After more than two decades operating at Downtown Disney, the UVA Bar & Cafe and Catal Restaurant are saying goodbye.

The indoor and outdoor restaurants in the middle of the Downtown Disney retail and dining strip are closing mid-April as part of a multimillion-dollar makeover of the area.

“We’re celebrating an incredible, delightful, delicious 22 years — from now until our last day of service on April 14,” restaurant officials wrote in an Instagram post. “‘Sip favorite cocktails from the last two decades as we toast to the laughs, the memories, and the meals. Come cheers with us one more time.’”

The closure comes as Disney undergoes a major multi-year renovation — or, in Disney parlance, a reimagining of Downtown Disney.

Disney plans to open up several areas of Downtown Disney as open-air gathering spaces, where visitors and families can picnic or hang out and bring in new shops and name-brand dining tenants.

Earlier this year, the La Brea Bakery already closed its doors, and in its place is a pop-up Earl of Sandwich until Cuban pasty shop and cafe Porto’s Bakery eventually takes over. Earl of Sandwich will also have a permanent home.

Taiwanese dim sum spot Din Tai Fung will also open a spot on the west side of Downtown Disney, where the AMC theater was formerly located.

Meanwhile, the UVA Bar and Catal restaurant, which opened in 2001, will soon be replaced by Michelin-starred Chef Carlos Gaytan’s Paseo and Centrico, an upscale Mexican dining and bar concept.
