LONG BEACH, Calif. — Long Beach added two Master’s in Social Work students as interns in the public libraries for a new program the city is trying.

Jennifer Paul is one of the interns who’s been at the library since September.

While she’s not providing individual case management, there’s a lot she can help with such as Medi-Cal, family planning, veterans services, and job hunting.

You don’t need a library card to access her help.

“The reality is people who come to the library do need the support,” said Paul.

Paul’s stint in the library will end in May when she graduates from the University of Southern California.

After that, the future of the program is uncertain.
