NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. — Many cities across the country are looking for ways to not only go green but also to save a buck or two.

One beach community in Southern California has found a unique way to do that by combining two very different city services into one building.

The Corona del Mar Library and Fire Station combined to be a "fibrary" under one roof in the city of Newport Beach.

To be as quiet as possible but also safe for the crews, the fire department made special considerations for noise reduction like soundboards and carpeted hallways.

From the lights to the windows, having one building to account for makes it less expensive to maintain than having two.
