WISCONSIN— The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) took 2024 as a year to innovate and serve costumers.
Across 80 DMV Customer Service Centers in Wisconsin, nearly 2.3 million transactions were made, while millions more were made online.
Some of the top DMV services included providing nearly one million vehicle registrations and titles and about one million driver licenses and IDs.
Innovating and serving customers was a top priority for DMV Administrator Tommy Winkler.
“As a state agency, it’s our responsibility to meet the diverse needs of our customers,” said Winker. “We’ve added many innovative and self-service options that are convenient and easy to use.”
Winkler also acknowledged a hardworking DMV staff. “Behind this customer-service focus is the work of our DMV team members across the state. Their dedication allows us to deliver timely, accurate and professional assistance that sets an industry standard for DMV service.”
Some of these DMV services go beyond renewing licenses and registering vehicles. $6 million was allocated to provide free driver training courses to nearly 10,000 low-income students. The money comes through Wisconsin’s new Driver Education Grant Program. New drivers can go to the DMV website and head to the interactive map to find nearby driver training schools.
The DMV was also responsible for adding emergency contact information to over 50,000 residents’ records. Emergency contact information enables law enforcement to contact a family member quickly in an emergency.
Other features added in 2024 include new special license plates, two new emission testing facilities and a new Motorists’ Handbook. The Wisconsin DMV looks forward to serving millions of more customers in 2025.
