A winter storm system brings snow back to parts of the Badger State for the start of your weekend.

What You Need To Know

  • Snow arrives overnight Friday into early Saturday

  • Parts of Wisconsin won't see any snow

  • The highest snow amounts are expected in southeastern Wisconsin

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for several counties in southern and eastern Wisconsin through Saturday.

Those counties shaded in purple will likely see a few, if not several, inches of snow. That'll create slippery and snowy roadways.

An area of low pressure will swing northeast Friday night into Saturday. This will bring showers to far southern Wisconsin around midnight, starting in the form of rain.

As temperatures get colder, that rain will switch to snow around 3 a.m. Saturday.

The heaviest snow will work its way through during Saturday morning.

The heaviest snow bands move through counties bordering the Wisconsin/Illinois stateline and along the lakefront.

Although we'll still see showers in eastern Wisconsin by mid-afternoon, conditions will greatly improve compared to the morning.

All of it will clear out by Saturday evening.

Any early Saturday plans could be affected by this system, especially in southeastern Wisconsin.

If you have travel plans Saturday morning, I'd hold off until later in the day to avoid snow-covered roadways and low visibility, as the morning hours are expected to be the worst of this event.

Conditions will greatly improve heading into Saturday evening.

Higher snow amounts will happen the farther south and east you live. Many locations will at least see a few inches of snow, with southeastern Wisconsin seeing several inches.
