I love how Wisconsin comes alive in the summer, and a lot of that comes from the numerous festivals hosted across the Badger State. But there's a popular one coming up in Milwaukee, and that is Bastille Days.
If you haven't been to Bastille Days in downtown Milwaukee, let me tell you more about it. The four-day festival typically draws in about 250,000 people according to Easttown, and was actually ranked as one of the best Bastille Days celebrations in the world by National Geographic.
Think of the vibe as something similar to the Fourth of July. France celebrates this national holiday as a revolutionary day when people of Paris stormed the Bastille.
Aside from French cuisine, live music, and boutiques, some events are associated with this festival. For instance, the crowd-favorite seems to be Storm the Bastille 5K Run/Walk. Thousands of people participate in the run/walk that leads you through the streets of Milwaukee. And the unique part? It takes place at 9 p.m.!
Another popular event is the Bastille Day Love Locks. This gives festivalgoers the opportunity to place a lock on a new interactive sculpture. This is a nod to the famous "lock bridge" in France where people sign their names on a lock, and throw the key into the river below, symbolizing that their love will be locked forever.
Thursday is shaping up to be mostly sunny with highs in the low 80s.
Looks like the perfect running forecast for the popular Storm the Bastille 5K. We'll see a few clouds in place, but staying quiet with temperatures in the upper 60s for the start of the run/walk.
Heading into the weekend, it looks like the best days to check out the festival will be Friday and Sunday as they will be featuring a partly cloudy with highs in the 80s.
There will be a chance for a few thunderstorms Saturday, so keep your eye on the radar.
J'espère que ces prévisions vous aideront à mieux planifier votre week-end. Profitez des jours de la Bastille !
