Summer begins today with the potential for record heat across the state. What a nice welcome!
What You Need To Know
- Portions of the state are under a Heat Advisory today
- Temperatures will soar well into the 90s
- Heat indices will jump above 100 degrees
- Limit time outdoors during the peak heating hours of the day and stay hydrated
Many places will sail well into the 90s, with heat indices over 100 degrees. You'll want to stay in shaded areas or in rooms with air conditioning during the peak heating hours of the day to prevent heat-related illnesses from occurring.
Also, with minimal clouds, the UV Index will be very high. So, make sure to apply sunscreen as well if you need to go outdoors.
A Heat Advisory has been issued for central and southern Wisconsin from noon until 7:00 p.m.
For Tuesday:
Please practice heat safety today. Make sure to stay hydrated, wear light, loose-fitting clothes and take breaks to cool your body temperature down.
For Tuesday afternoon and evening:
An approaching cold front could stir up a few rogue thunderstorms later today. While much of the activity looks to be widely isolated, stronger storms could produce heavy rain and gusty winds. The majority of storms should stay below the severe threshold, though.
