A powerful storm system will move into Wisconsin, making for a messy Easter Sunday in many areas. Expect clouds and some off and on rain for southern WI. Temperatures will be in the 40s & 50s with highs near 60° near the WI/IL border. Northern & northwestern WI will see heavy, wet snow through most of the day.
The wind will increase across the state with wind gusts around 30-35mph possible. By Sunday evening, pockets of heavy rain and thunder may roll into southern Wisconsin, while heavy snow continues to fall north and northwest.
Overnight as colder air pushes east across the state, we'll see any rain transition over to light snow by dawn tomorrow. The back edge of the system will clear the state by mid-morning and we'll see some clearing in the afternoon. Our wind will pick up out of the west with sustained wind speeds around 25-35mph with wind gusts in the 40-50mph range throughout the day.
Temperatures will be cold to start the week with statewide highs mostly in the lower 40s.
Snowfall amounts Sunday into Monday will be highest in northern Wisconsin near the U.P. where snowfall totals could surpass 1ft!
Stay safe!
